Smith County continues 40 year streak receiving the Governors Three Star Award

Smith County was the 2nd County to receive the Governor’s ThreeStar Award in 1982. They have continued to participate in the program and have maintained this designation for 40 years. 

The ThreeStar program strives to promote economic and community prosperity through collaboration to positively impact every Tennessean. Since 1980, ThreeStar has served as the state’s signature program to boost community collaboration, encourage communication between local stakeholders, provide guidance to communities by having strategic requirements for performance, accountability, and efficiency, and assist in goal setting and resource alignment.

Certification in the ThreeStar program is based on annual documentation of local activity, evaluation and biennial participation in coordinated local stakeholder goal and activity planning.
