Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Site Development Director leads the Select Tennessee program that includes the Certified Sites program, the Property Evaluation Program and the Site Development Grant program; this program ensures that Tennessee develops sites for industrial and business use and provides resources and guidance to help develop sites throughout the state with a focus on rural and distressed communities.
The Site Development Director is responsible for:
-Coordinate the Select Tennessee Certified Sites program and application process. Monitor progress for sites pursuing certification in order to provide support and coordination to identify issues, develop solutions, and facilitate feedback to communities.
-Manage the Select Tennessee Property Evaluation Program to include program implementation and selection of applications for two rounds per year.
-Coordinate the Select Tennessee Site Development Grant process to include application acceptance, review and scoring of the applications, application presentations as needed, and announcement of award.
-Oversee the Certified Sites Grant Program, to include the review and processing of applications and the monitoring of the grant award.
-Coordinate and manage the process for recertifying sites and guide communities through this process.
-Manage contract with the private site selection firm supporting the Select Tennessee suite of programs
and develop new contracts for this service as needed.
-Provide project management of Site Development Grants, including review of required documents.
-Maintain site information pertaining to the Select Tennessee programs in the State CRM system and on
the website.
-Assist with the external marketing and promotional efforts for the Select Tennessee programs.
-Coordinate with TVA on the entry of information about Select Tennessee sites and TNECD contact information in the TVAsites online available property system.
-Represent TNECD at local and regional meetings and events, make presentations to stakeholders, and represent the Department on and provide technical support to committees and initiatives as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
-Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in economic development, planning, civil engineering, GIS, or a related field.
-5 years professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
-Experience with evaluating sites and property for development including evaluation of utility and transportation networks and services and an understanding of the physical/environmental qualities of real estate.
-Ability to interpret and understand site plans, surveys and maps.
-Technical and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (excel, access, word, outlook).
-Strong understanding of Tennessee local government.
-Strong critical thinking, analytical, organizational and management skills.
Ability to work as part of a small team and supervise subordinate staff.
Ability to travel across the State of Tennessee regularly and out of state as needed.
